About Dr. Jenkins

I’m a licensed psychologist in North Carolina and Florida, and a health psychologist by training. My work focuses on helping adults turn intention into meaningful, lasting change—especially when motivation feels complicated or stuck.

Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable individuals who understand what they want for their health or wellbeing but feel frustrated by how difficult it has been to follow through consistently. They may have tried before—sometimes many times—and are looking for an approach that respects both their goals and the very real barriers they face.

My clinical work is grounded in decades of research on motivation, behavior change, and health psychology. I specialize in motivational interviewing, an evidence-based approach designed to help people resolve ambivalence, strengthen confidence, and move toward change in a way that feels internally driven rather than forced.

Rather than focusing on advice-giving or quick fixes, I work collaboratively with clients to understand what matters most to them, what has gotten in the way, and what kind of change is realistic and sustainable in the context of their lives.

How I Work

My approach is structured, intentional, and collaborative. Therapy with me often involves:

  • Clarifying goals and values related to health, wellbeing, or daily functioning

  • Exploring ambivalence with curiosity rather than judgment

  • Identifying practical barriers to change and addressing them directly

  • Strengthening confidence and readiness for action

  • Developing strategies that are flexible, realistic, and sustainable

While I commonly work with concerns such as anxiety, depression, substance use, and stress, my focus is often less on symptom labels and more on how emotional and physical health interact with motivation, habits, and follow-through.

I am especially experienced in supporting behavior change related to:

  • Health behaviors (eating, exercise, sleep, substance use)

  • Chronic health conditions

  • Burnout and high stress

  • Repeated attempts at change that haven’t worked as hoped

Why I Keep a Small Caseload

I intentionally keep my practice small so that I can be fully present and responsive to the clients I work with. This allows for a level of care that is more personalized, flexible, and attentive than is often possible in higher-volume practices.

I work exclusively with self-pay clients and do not participate in insurance networks. This model supports the kind of work I do and allows therapy to remain focused on your goals rather than external constraints.

Licensure and Availability

I provide online psychotherapy (telehealth) for adults residing in:

  • North Carolina

  • Florida

All sessions are conducted virtually, allowing clients to receive care from their home or another private location.

A Final Note on Fit

Finding the right therapist matters. My work is best suited for adults who are ready to engage actively in the process of change and who value a thoughtful, evidence-based, and collaborative approach.

If this resonates, I invite you to reach out to explore whether working together may be a good fit.
